WiDiAuNet is the first wireless audio network supporting the distribution of eight independent high definition digital audio signals. Based on the IEEE 802.11a and IEEE 802.11n standards it implements the patented group addressed multicast transmission using contention free access protocol and forward error correction. With the help of modern multiple-in multiple-out antenna structure WiDiAuNet maximizes the range and sensitivity of the wireless local area network.
The key components of WiDiAuNet are the transmitter station to which the different audio sources such as CD, DVD, and Blue Ray players are connected and the receivers connected to the active loudspeakers. In a typical home theater set-up the transmitter is near the A/V source and the receivers are integrated to the active loudspeakers. WiDiAuNet sports 24-bit audio data format with 192 kS/s on each of its eight channels thus supporting the highest quality current and future audio stream configurations.
The use of multicast transmission with contention free access method maximizes the utilizalion of the available wireless local area network bandwidth. Patented frame sequencing algoritm further minimizes the system jitter and system delay. Forward error correction fixes the eventual transmission errors on-the-fly and the interrupt driven synchronization method keeps all the channels accurately timed.
